If you missed Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick, on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" today, then you missed what was tantamount to an interview with the former vice president himself. It was uncanny, as well as eerie, how she so calmly parroted all the Cheneyesque rationales for torture; a term, of course, she repeatedly rejected.
Her emphasis was the "efficacy" of torture, which naturally failed to surprise. What truly dismayed, however, was the absence of a formidable opposition on the show. As she -- and they, her nominal opponents, including Eugene Robinson and Mike Barnicle -- argued back and forth about the practical or impractical merits of torturing a human being to extract information, no one bothered to stress that whatever its merits, it's ... illegal.
That's the one fundamental contradiction inherent in any defense of torture, and Liz Cheney was allowed to slip right by it. What a wasted opportunity.
Why exactly is Liz Cheney talking this stuff on TV? It almost sounds like she's trying to position herself for a run for office. If so, who will be her constituency? Gay women who admire torture?
Hopefully she is chatting up this garbage because she is being paid a lot of money by her evil old man. Getting paid money to lie is hardly honorable. But as long as she's busy shilling for Dad's cash, then she's not going to be trying to become the next Dick on the national stage.

WILL SOMEONE PLEEEEAASEE!!! Tell me why a low to mid level employee of the State Department is allowed to hit the talk shows with possibly classified government information on our country's policies???? Everytime I see her on TV I wonder why the producers are allowing her to speak as a significant informed official?>????? Am I the only one that feels this way???

Liz has the two most important qualifications to be on the national stage and answer the issues being addressed:
1. she is the daugter of "the dick"
2. she is a "gay woman"

It's amazing these sadists always get a forum to extol their inhumanity. Morning Joe has been one of the most go along to get along shows on cable when it comes to issues of illegality and valueless policies.
Bob Scheifer just became the new Russert when providing a safe place for their evil old man to further sully our country's once good name.
