Are you sure about that? Don't you think it might just as easily be a comfort to them to know they can muster large numbers of reliable voters with a toot of the old dog whistle.

Unfortunately, where Perry's concerned, you're absolutely right. I've lived 40+ years in the Deep South. Guys like Perry and his admirers are *very* comfortable with reliable dog whistles.
