The Who Cares? primary

From exit polling, this riveting indicator from that cliffhanger in Florida, which might, just might explain the overall outcome:

Romney beat Gingrich among women -- and men.

Uhhhh ...

My levity doesn't imply a lack of caring about the Florida primary, although it should. This is small ball, a mere trifle, a negligible nothing compared to that which actually matters in the much longer run; which is, simply, the extent of damage and division that Newt Gingrich is willing to inflict on his own party. That's the only story here.

The primaries are over, just as they were over a month ago. They're only formalities. Romney's the nominee, he's always been the nominee, he shall be the nominee. Romney isn't the story. Gingrich and his accompanying carnage are.
