In Francis Fukuyama's The End of History, we learned (or so Fukuyama thought) of the world's triumphant struggle for sociocultural perfection, the world having finally found it and spread it in liberal democracy. Well, today we can appreciate 'The End of Politics' as well, for Mitch McConnell, speaking on the Senate floor, has finally achieved the ultimate in political depravity:
I'm having a hard time thinking of a word to describe the level of leadership we're getting from Democrats in Washington these days. Whether it's the president or the Democratic Senate, frankly, Madam President, it's a disgrace. There isn't a single issue I can think of that we're willing to do anything about.
If that weren't so transparently Rovean--all that "your own greatest weakness-jujitsu" crap--we might have a hard time thinking of words to describe the level of hypocrisy we're getting from Republicans in Washington these days. McConnell, with additional credit going to Rick Santorum, has made it easy: the throwing-up level.
At least he didn't say "Democrat Senate." That's something.
Isn't it?

"There isn't a single issue I can think of that we're willing to do anything about."
Was that a Freudian slip of the tongue or a type?
