From The Hill: Republican Sens. Kelly Ayotte and Lindsey Graham
said they would introduce a resolution when the Senate is back in session Monday "expressing support for Chen [Guangcheng] and calling on the Chinese government to end the persecution of human rights activists and their families."
Courage, always courage.
Many would flee from the politically intimidating prospect of standing up for human rights activists and their families against the nearly universally condemned abuses of totalitarian China--but not Republican Sens. Kelly Ayotte and Lindsey Graham.
The cheap political move for Ayotte and Graham would have been to take a few minutes from sabotaging our economy and reflect that pompous senatorial interference in delicate diplomatic confrontations is often counterproductive, thus perhaps they should keep their empty resolutions to themselves, at least until the international tension is as empty as their maneuvering.
But that is not the act of two great Republican senators who are filled with ...
courage, always courage.
