Today's Supreme Court decisions and their implications in brief, so to speak:
*"Show me your papers" is law.
*"Show me the money" remains law.
*Judicial activism is now a wholly owned reality of the right.
*If Latinos don't get out and vote for Obama and thus a more civilized Court of the future (today's Court was, admittedly, a sloppy, slop-over hybrid), even those living here legally may eventually want to self-deport.
*If white men and white women and African Americans and the young and the old and the educated and the uneducated and the working poor and the middle class don't get out and vote for Obama and thus a more civilized nation of the future, eventually we may all want to self-deport.
Should you elect to make that decision to self deport may I please be the first to extend a personal invitation to head north. The winters aren't as bad as many imagine and we have pretty decent health care and a first rate educational system. Should you elect to stay and fight the good fight on behalf of reason (the likeliest scenario) I'd offer this bit of cheer: despite what everyone thinks elections cannot just be bought. If Wisconsin showed anything it is that. The ground game of getting people to pull your figurative trigger is what will win elections. The airwaves are soon to be inundated with negative ads by Romney's allied superpacs. They have raised so much money that there will not be enough time slots for all the ads. Most of this money will accomplish nothing beyond a stimulus to the political advertising industry. I doubt it will change many minds nor that it will stimulate a greater turnout against Obama. The Democrats do have some under-performing demographic groups when it comes to voter turnout. Money spent getting them to the polls is money very wisely spent and the social networking tools to accomplish this very economically are ready to go.
