Right-winger Jennifer Rubin is nothing if not solicitous about President Obama and Democrats, so much so that she even writes advice columns entitled, "Obama is killing the Democratic Party."
No, really. She's worried:
[Democrats] should take a page from the conservative playbook from the second Bush term. Then, conservatives stuck by their principles, criticized him where appropriate and maintained their integrity. That was a wise choice. Presidents, especially inept ones, come and go, but parties, journalists and political movements need to endure more than four years.
What precedes this doggerel is a riotous must-read. Obama, according to the frenzied Rubin, "has wrecked havoc in the the Democratic Party," "has split the party," "has turned Democrats into reactionaries" and "re-McGovernized the party, which now stands for appeasing despotic powers, turning on allies and slashing defense spending."
Missing is any mention of providing two years of private job growth, saving the American auto industry, killing bin Laden, expanding affordable healthcare to all Americans, ending the war in Iraq, winding down the war in Afghanistan, halting the idiotic policy of "Don't ask, don't tell," creating a consumer protection bureau, re-regulating Wall Street outlaws, appointing two sterling women to the Supreme Court, and perhaps above all else, somehow coping with roughly 300 congressional lunatics as well as hordes of absolute dingbats like Jennifer Rubin.
The poor guy should be awarded another Nobel Peace Prize for that last accomplishment alone.
