From Gallup:
... a preliminary bounce ... tracking update puts Obama's job approval rating at 52%.
The current data ... for the most part don't reflect the influence of Obama's late Thursday night speech, if any.
What else can one say? Except that Romney has already abandoned Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin; that Peggy Noonan has unwittingly conceded that "soft extremism" (translation: moderation) works; that Mitt's adoption of Paul Ryan was a colossal miscalculation of weeks-long distraction; and that Romney-Ryan are beginning to make the Goldwater-Miller ticket look like an enviable model of glittering coherence.
Re Noonan, does that woman write drunk? I've seen her television punditry and she always comes across to me as someone who had a couple heavy belts from the bottle of Chivas stashed in her desk. Surely she does need the same liquid courage to face a keyboard?

Goldwater was incredibly coherent between this steaming pile of fail they call a presidential ticket.
The problem with Goldwater was that he was coherently a nutjob. But his nuttiness did mostly hold together as a belief system. It was just an abhorrent one.
The crazy thing? Goldwater would be on the left wing of the party if he was here now. Maybe even drummed out for not being a Bible-thumper. What a world.

^ first line of my post above should read "compared to" rather than "between"...weird typo, as it wasn't even in the ballpark of what I meant to type.
oh well, it's Friday.
