Before I forget, before today's epic apex of political thrills passes, before the labors of lo these many months culminate in America's next historic salvation, I wish to issue this simple request: DON'T LEAVE ME!
There's much more to come.
This site--and thank you so very much--has roughly quadrupled its readership in the last year, a trend that cuts against the statistical grain of nearly all those other guys on the left. It's the Obama Effect mostly, although it sure didn't hurt that the unspeakably villainous yet indescribably inept Mitt Romney has been here for us. Though a wretched blight he has indeed been, I'm almost sorry to see him go (see this paragraph's intro sentence).
Still, even sans Mitt, there's much GOP zaniness pending. Will this criminal gang of ideological adolescents push us over "the cliff"? Will the party's straggling Establishment elders rediscover their gonads and thereby clash with the ideologically criminal element? And who will take the early lead in what promises to be the party's even more raucous 2016 presidential gauntlet, which commences in about 15 hours.
Stay tuned. And DON'T LEAVE ME.
It's been a pleasure to read this all year. I wish you would post home news more often.
And congratulations on the success of this excellent site.
I'm an English professor, and I admire your respect for the language. You get it right.

Wasn't planning on going anywhere actually. I expect I will be spending less time overall on monitoring blogs but not less here. This is an island of sanity and rational analysis with an unusually well informed commentariat and almost no poo-flingers ever drop by. I learn things here.

Not going anywhere. Came to you through another site and am thrilled I did. There are about 4 sites that I will still regularly visit and this is number 2 of the 4.
And I am not an English professor, and it shows in most of my comments, but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying a well written post, which all of yours are.

Not to worry. Love your insight, style, wit, straightforward commentary. I've recommended this blog to many folks, some of whom are hopefully among your new readers.

Leave you? Ha! You can't get rid of me.
Posted by: Janicket | November 06, 2012 at 09:40 AM
I second Janicket! P.M. your commentary and a good cup of coffee jump-starts my day...and I'm sure there will be more and more to comment on in the coming years.

You're my fave PM!

Not a chance. You're bookmarked and RSS-ed - and possibly neural-pathwayed at this point.

PM, a day without reading your blog is a day without sunshine. I first discovered you during the 2004 campaign and I've been reading faithfully ever since. I know I often cite an article you wrote dated November 22, 2004 just after W Bush won his "mandate" and was arrogantly flaunting his "political capital" which he intended to spend. And boy did he and then some! But in that article, when all was dark and doom at the prospect of four more years of Bush/Cheney hell, that article you wrote perked up my spirits so much, I printed it and kept it, and reread it every time the political storm clouds gathered. You were right about your every prediction about the republican party based on your knowledge of their history. And sure enough, just as you wrote, the democrats took back the congress in 2006 and the rest is well documented recent history. So thank you, P.M. for being that light in the window, that safe port in the political storm for me. I will always be grateful to you and look forward to spending more time with you and your column of sanity!

Yours is usually the first or second wave I catch when I surf, Mr. Carpenter. Like Janicket, I just can't quit you. Please don't leave us, and we won't leave you.

I'm glad to hear that your readership is going so well. I followed you from Buzzflash, and now I don't look at Buzzflash anymore. I don't need cheerleading, and I, seemingly in league with everyone here, love the English language.
I'll still be here tomorrow, and every morning. Thanks.

The only way I could even consider leaving is if I happened to find some other blog as insightful and eloquent as this one. Tain't likely, McGee.
See you tomorrow! And the day after. And the day after that. And...

I couldn't get started every morning if I didn't check in on this site to get your take on things. Love your commentary!

You're a damned fine writer and blogger. Wouldn't dream of it.

I follow your posts every day, Phil, and very much appreciate your insights and "way with words". I will absolutely continue to visit every day!

Hell no, we won't go! Visiting this site is now a daily event for me. Smart, well written posts and a huge heaping amount of pragmatic sensibility--no, I'm staying.
Here's to the next four years, and beyond.

Your column is the voice of sanity and reason in the political world. I have recommended it to several friends and relatives. Keep on keepin' on.

I came here from Andrew Sullivan. As a Brit, I can understand why Sullivan likes you so much. You've got the British sarcasm and humor. I read you from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I wonder how many of those you've got going????? Cheers, and I hope that tomorrow we will all be in good spirits...Dan Rather's "good night for Mitt Romney" not withstanding...

Another reader who found you through another blog - Andrew Sullivan, perhaps? - and have enjoyed following you this year. You're one of my few favorites.

Well, there ya go, Phil -- just look at all those folks who, while they may not comment, couldn't get through a day without dropping in for a visit.
Ain't it grand? And so richly deserved.

Addicted to your wit and sanity here in Mindanao, southern Philippines. So could you please post more between midnight and sun-up? That would help me get through the day!
