National Journal reports on the continuing efforts of old, grumpy, GOP white guys to destroy the promising career of Ambassador Rice, now that they've shamelessly exploited the horrific deaths of four honorable Americans in Benghazi:
Senior Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday made crystal-clear their opposition to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice as a nominee for secretary of State.
John McCain is one, and he "bluntly answered 'yes' ... [when] asked if he would do anything to block her, including filibuster." McCain's twin, Lindsey Graham, said just as bluntly, "I don’t trust her."
Yes, this Stanford-educated, Phi Beta Kappa, Rhodes-scholar Oxford graduate who merely read the CIA's memos and passed the intelligence along, as it was understood at the time, is a wily one, all right.
ps: From The Hill:
Democrats don’t have the 51 votes they need in the Senate to change filibuster rules.... Lawmakers leading the charge acknowledge they remain short, but express optimism they’ll hit their goal.
