Grover Norquist just appeared on "PBS Newshour" and throughout he portrayed Democrats as unrehabilitated big spenders. Because that's the way they are. He portrayed Republicans as fiscal conservatives, at least since the Clinton administration, because that's the way they are.
Democrats. Big spenders.
Republicans. Fiscal conservatives.
Norquist made no mention of Republicans' deficit-exploding wars, no mention of Republicans' deficit-exploding tax cuts, and no mention of Republicans' deficit-exploding prescription drug plan.
Why oh why does anyone, much less PBS, give this man a forum for his disinformation?
Insanity.

Let me guess----the person interviewing Norquist didn't have the cojones to mention them either.

The unfortuante thing is that many Americans still believe that BS. The fortunate thing is that that group is shrinking.

The motivation behind Norquist's comments is flattery. Massaging the vanity of the remaining Republican base is what he needs to do to keep his job. The guy cannot gain elective office not can he prevent anyone else from holding elective office. All he can do is cojole or fluff. Nothing else.

You forgot the wars that exploded more than just the budget. The absolute worst waste of taxpayer money EVER. Because it was more than just money that was wasted.
