It's not that the imminently former U.S. Representative Allen West suffers from delusions of grandeur. What congressman--whose Washington pecking-order status Lyndon Johnson once characterized as "chickshit," versus senatorial "chicken salad"--doesn't? It is, rather, that Allen West makes us suffer from his delusions of grandeur, telling, for instance, NPR last Friday to "always remember, Abraham Lincoln only served one term in Congress, too."
Yes, and Lincoln was bipedal. And there, their similarities end.
One other irresistible quote from the NRP interview: "I think the most important thing that has to happen up here in Washington D.C. is to restore honor, integrity, and character to the political system and process that we have."
Well, then, congratulations, Mr. West. Your leaving is a start.
Amen! Yes, his leaving is a good start towards restoring honor and integrity to to the political system (such as it is). Now if Michele Bachman, Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and many others would go as well...

Do you know who else only served one term in Congress? Alexander Irvin, Thomas Turner, and Richard Canby. Who were they? Exactly.

I think it's mean to pick on West. Where is the dignity in that?
