Politico's Shakespearean aside,
so that cast "members" won't howl,
while we in the audience pleasingly abide
the speaker's treachery most foul:
Boehner won’t say this to his members, but Republicans who know him well believe he will never allow default, even if it puts his leadership position at risk.
No matter.
It's all theatre to the majority round.
Debt limit? Zounds!
There's no limit to their antics;
if the debt route can't do it,
another will make us frantic.
Why, forsooth, there's sequestration,
and shutdowns, and continuing resolutions,
all of which are "conservative" hijinks
to avert intelligent solutions.
'Starting [today], Boehner,' whispers Politico,
'will huddle with his leadership team
'to discuss his preliminary thinking
'on a spending strategy.'
Well, let's hope the speaker gets not too mean,
for that could spook the preliminarily batty.

This verse inspired by yesterday's C-Span BookTV appearance by Calvin Trillin, a fellow alum of Kansas City Mo.
I forget. Is this from a comedy or a tragedy? A Midtermer's Night Dream perhaps?

I remain a bit more hopeful - regardless of how this soliloquy ends. :-)
"Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York;
And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths;
Our bruised arms hung up for monuments;
Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,
Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.
Grim-visaged war hath smooth'd his wrinkled front;
And now, instead of mounting barded steeds
To fright the souls of fearful adversaries,
He capers nimbly in a lady's chamber
To the lascivious pleasing of a lute."
Richard III opening soliloquy

If Boehner's problem is truly member management, as the unnamed GOP strategist suggests, he should try Cideology. But consult his Treasurer for government shutdowns that exceed four weeks.
