... which I'm watching, which I wish I could say is enlightening, but it's only depressing--the same old neocon Grump-Crackpot faction, as represented today by McCain, Sessions and Inhofe. James Inhofe, whose density of mind is beyond any sober comprehension.
I have been following it vicariously through other places live blogging it. I remember once upon a time (God, I am old) when hearings were more about the nominee than about the inquisitors. Not that there was a time with no showboating. But the ratio has definitely been reversed.

Well, p.m.,
Your post was early in the day. We were, as if on cue, subjected to McCain and Graham making their case for neoconservatism.
What I'd like to here from you, p.m. is your take on the new kid, Cruz from Texas. IMO, that was one scary demagogue.

I hope that Janet will come back to Arizona and unseat our foul-tempered, leaping gnome in 2016.

I learn something every day. I did not know there was a hairless variety of the leaping gnome.

I just saw some footage of Ms. Lindsey Graham crabbing and badgering Hagel about Israel. NO matter how hard I try to understand it, I just simply can't comprehend why we are so tied up with Israel. Why does it seem like we have to bow to their every demand?

Why so tied up with Israel?
Mainly because of the political power of pandering to the fervent religious views of the Christian right. Roughly 18% of voters nationally , but in some regions, and in a certain political party -- and I bet you can figure out which regions and which party I'm referrring to -- a lot more than 15%.
