Geez, I share some of PM's complaints about MSNBC and they're not my first or second or third stop for just-the-facts news, but on the trustworthiness scale, they're fucking Abe Lincoln to Fox's Mitt Romney.
For as sanctimonious and obnoxious as their anchors often are and noting that they come at the news with a viewpoint they'd prefer to reinforce, MSNBC's shows do acknowledge and deal with the facts of the reality we face, not the impermeable bubble of bullshit Fox shovels out to keep their viewers angry and afraid.
Maddow, whatever her faults, corrects errors in her reporting. Do O'Reilly or Hannity ever do that? I wouldn't know, as I don't watch Fox that often. Maybe since their shows are basically one neverending fart of rank dishonesty, it would take too long to issue corrections. That's possible.

Fox -- the war on Xmas. MSNBC -- the war on women (transvaginal probes, personhood amendment, definition of rape.)
Fox -- voter intimidation (new Black Panther party. MSNBC -- voter suppression.
Yeah, they're the same.
