You can’t just willy-nilly send F-16s there and blow the hell out of the place without knowing what’s taking place.
Such was Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's considered, contemptuous response to Senate Republicans' desperate knuckledragging today--again--on "The Benghazi Affair."
They just won't give it up--from John McCain's "We didn’t take into account the threats to that consulate, and that’s why four Americans died"; to James Inhofe's "The big problem here is the cover-up"; to the scandalous interruptions of Panetta by South Carolina's loosest whore, Lindsey Graham, the GOP simply insists on swaggering its way to oblivion--if not through one wholesale invention, then through another.
Enough with the "cranks" and enough with the "haters," urge GOP strategists. The party must take to more dignified stands. And yet what, in everyday practice, do we get? More heaps of bush-league McCarthyism and cheap demagogic tricks.
There truly is no bottom for these jackals.
Has anyone outside the leftish blogosphere pointed out that this little warmongering clique in the GOP has spent exponentially more time pretending to be outraged about this than they ever did figuring out how 9/11 happened?
Is this whole fake controversy just a simple manifestation that the Obama security team gave them next to nothing to be outraged about for his entire first term until Benghazi happened? So all this pent-up fury about the need to believe and talk about Democrats being weak on defense that they've been denied an outlet for by the competent Obama Administration is all gushing out over this tragedy? It seems utterly juvenile.
