Every so often in politics, but not often enough, a spine-tingling moment of brutal clarity comes along that wipes from dulled memories all the preceding banalities of inauthentic civility and re-renders the profession a stirring and noble one. Today, Sen. Dianne Feinstein's righteous takedown of that idiot Ted Cruz was one of those moments.
What elegant parrying, and what a beautifully bloodied corpse. "I'm not a sixth-grader.... I've studied the Constitution myself. I am reasonably well-educated, and I thank you for the lecture." There was a grace in Feinstein's savagery that awed. What's more, it instructed, or at least I hope it instructed her many congressional colleagues who for years have allowed the malevolent armies of Ted Cruzes to intimidate sanity into silence.
How many blizzards of right-wing bullshit have blown by, especially since 2010, in the face of virtually no pushback? Yep, they're countless. The right has blustered and bullied its way into the body politic's psyche as though it is or anyway should be immune from harsh political prosecution; the right is, after all, somehow "more American" than liberals, who are tantamount to European socialists, who are akin to communists, who are outright traitors.
That's been the right's meticulously self-cultivated hogwash since Joe McCarthy, who's back in Ted Cruz and a revolting, insolent crew of many GOP others.
And today, California's Dianne Feinstein cut the sniveling little bastard from Texas down to size--a glorious occasion, with, I trust, more to follow.
There's plenty not to like about DiFi's mushy middle politics and worth fantasizing that my state could elect a far more liberal Senator than she.
But on gun violence? Don't.fuck.with.DiFi. She had the privilege of discovering Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone's bullet-riddled bodies and announcing it to the press. She's the last fucking person a preening douchebag halfwit like Ted Cruz should be trying to talk down to.
and besides, the fucking words "well-regulated" are right there in their cherished 2nd amendment!
(Yes, I know it's not directly preceding the clause about the right to bear arms. but what's one of the most important aspects of a militia? The ARMS they BEAR. So it's utter lunacy and/or dishonesty to suggest the phrase "well-regulated" isn't supposed to apply to bearing arms. Jesus, even the right-wing fucks on the Supreme Court more or less admit this)
These GOP faux-macho morons can take their fake constitutional purity and shove it up their asses until it comes out their noses. Such assholes.

I don't think anything registered with him; I don't think he understood that he was being schooled by Ms. Feinstein. His expression was one of a dullard...and then he proceeds to follow up with an insulting comment about her passion on the subject. He's an idiot. We are in trouble if anymore like him and Rand get into the Senate. Lord preserve us!

I'm afraid there is no stick large enough,
nor any person strong enough,
to swing it hard enough,
to smack upside the head enough,
to bring dullards like Cruz to their senses.
But we can make laughingstock out of them, and so marginalize them. The Really Serious People in the GOP simply can't stand being laughed at.

Yesterday, senator Feinstein did our state proud by schooling that self-important little punk. But i agree with the other commenters, the snotty little dullard didn't look like he had sense enough to know what a douchebag he was as he continued to look stupid and then complain she didn't answer his stupid question. here's hoping more democrats get fed up and do more of the same.

Now I'd bet that the asshole is going to fund raise off this.
