Does Maureen Dowd ever think her columns through? She concludes today's with,
"I think that folks here in Washington like to grade on style," Obama said dismissively of his Syria critics.
But why is it so often the president’s style to be unable to sell the substance--even on issues where most people agree with him?
... yet roughly midway Ms. Dowd had already supplied the answer: "Congressional Republicans, who might yet shut down the government or cause a cataclysmic default" while obstructing the ACA's implementation and killing any chances for a jobs bill and burying immigration reform and underfunding regulatory agencies and ... and ... and it makes absolutely no goddamn difference what the president is selling or how many Americans agree with him--as long as we've congressional GOPers slopping from the trough of their narrow and narrow-minded base.
Ms. Dowd knows that, but why kill a lively line for the sake of clarity?
