I'd like to say the GOP has finally discovered, via the Congressional Budget Office, the marvels of empirical analysis and factual evidence. But, alas, I cannot, since the GOP is butchering what the CBO actually said about Obamacare and jobs. That much, we already know.
Perhaps many of us have forgetten, however, how the GOP has traditionally regarded this institution of rigorous fact-finding. So I surfed a bit, and in minutes came up with this:
NY Times, 2011, "Republicans Reject [CBO] Cost Estimate of Health Law Repeal"
The Hill, 2011, "House Dems slam GOP for dismissing CBO estimate on healthcare"
Washington Post, 2012, "Republicans don't like the CBO, except for when they do"
WaPo, 2011, "The Republican war on the CBO"
CrooksandLiars, 2011, "Gingrich: Abolish 'Socialist' Congressional Budget Office"
HuffPost, 2009, "GOP Scoffed At CBO Score For Iraq That Was Twice The Cost Of Health Care"
I could go on, but why?
Paraphrasing the Bard, Was ever feather so lightly blown to and fro as this Republican multitude?
