Cliven Bundy, red-blooded American:
I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro.... [B]ecause they were basically on government subsidy [after slavery], so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.
A spokesman for [Bundy-supporter Rand] Paul, informed of Mr. Bundy’s remarks, said the senator was not available for immediate comment.
And better yet. Notes Raw Story:
Republican politicians began backtracking on their support of Nevada anti-government rancher Cliven Bundy after the New York Times caught Bundy making racially-inflammatory remarks.
It's astounding. Absolutely astounding. Anyone of average intelligence and ordinary perceptive powers could see the Moral Majoritarians for what they were, could see the Christian Coalitionists for what they were, could see the Tea Party for what it was, could see the Birchers and haters and bigots and all the miscellaneous crypto-fascists and outright anarchists who are attracted to the modern Republican Party for what they were, and are. Yet Republican pols fall for them every time, and pander to their every ignorance, only to be, in time, ahem, embarrassed. It's astounding. Absolutely astounding.
