The House GOP leadership in action.
Explaining to The Hill why he recently signed -- only to retract his signature on -- a Democratic discharge petition to force a vote on the Senate's China bill, Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers said:
"Well, I did it in the spur of the moment. I didn’t realize what it was all about."
Asked if leaders applied pressure [for retraction], Rogers said that "leadership has taken a very strong position — and I sort of consider myself in a leadership role."
He's chairman of the Appropriations Committee -- or maybe just "sort of."
What's worse, the chairman doesn't know what a major bill is "all about"?
We're so much safer as a nation when these boys are away from Washington, in recess, giddily demagoguing to the home folks.
