Today's Condi-straction from the Romney campaign is pitiable. It's so transparently tactical it's generating virtually no buzz--but that's also because it's so transparently, cynically amateurish.
Condi? The mere mention of her name sends anti-choice thumpers into paroxysms of outrage. Ms. Rice has as much chance of becoming Mitt Romney's running mate as Jon Huntsman, and everyone knows it, hence the Romney camp's aggravated attempt at political distraction is nothing but a self-harming flop.
I suppose Mitt thought he was getting another Karl Rove in Eric Ferhnstrom, who, I am further supposing, cooked up the Condi flop. It's true that both men (actually, all three men) are chillingly sociopathic in their politics. But Fehrnstom seems to work at it, whereas with Rove, it all seems to come so naturally.
As someone recently noted, Condi has the advantage of already being a war criminal and wouldn't have to pick it up along the way.
