Pre-post, pre-reading notations: Cue coda to "1812 Overture"; to be read, allegro; Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" (or any jazz piece in 5/4 time) may substitute for Tchaikovsky; inhale deeply, breathe slowly.
A new Politico/George Washington University tracking poll is out and Obama has recaptured his lead over Romney! Obama nows leads! by 1 point, which is a 3! point! swing! from the prior week! However, 73 percent of Romney's supporters are extremely likely to vote while only 60 percent of Obama's are. Still, roughly the same percentage (yeah!) among each camp will "definitely" vote.
Obama again leads among women--this week, today, this morning--by 11 points! That's a dramatic upswing of 5 points in merely one week! Can you believe it? "The women have come back, and they look pretty locked in," said Dem pollster Celinda Lake about an uptick that never plunged. Nonetheless, a little rain must always fall: Romney has the men, by 12 points.
On the other hand Obama's job approval has soared to 50 percent! Praise Jesus! Although, alas ... what foul skulduggery is this? Romney is favored once again by independents.
You are hereby granted permission to print this post, roll some really fine weed in it, and again inhale deeply--an exercise from which you will gain every bit as much insight as from reading individual polls.
Done!

The only purpose many of these polls seem to have this close to the election, is to give television pundits something to talk about. If I were to start a popular drinking game based on how many times a stream of punditry nonsense began with the phrase "A new poll suggests.." I fear I would flood emergency rooms everywhere. I'm looking at you CNN...metaphorically speaking, of course. Because I never look at you. You make my brain cringe.

If you are going to play The 1812 Overture for this, may I suggest this as the most appropriate version:
