Erickson is livid, his usual state of seeing red, and oh so tired of being right:
I have told you people again and again. You will be made to care.
Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant and then it seeks to silence good. Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan, honestly answered questions during an GQ interview. He spoke openly of his Christian faith. Because he offended a secular left at war with orthodox Christianity, he must be punished.
A&E and Phil Robertson both chose to put their respective faiths ahead of profits.
Actually, Mr. Erickson, as Yeats (no enemy of the far right) observed, "The best lack all conviction, while the worst / Are full of passionate intensity."
That, Erick, sums up your fiery drivel pretty well.
As for the "secular left" and "orthodox Christianity," I assume by the first you mean those within whom true tolerance is not strained, for humankind's diversity is embraced as a natural good, and by the second you mean any doctrinaire pomposity identical to yours.
Do Christianity a huge favor, Erick. Don't defend it.
Finally, whatever A&E did was but the wondrous working of the free market, no? If you, Erick, believe for one minute that A&E executives rebuffed profits in favor of human decency, then just as you clearly miscomprehend the spirit of Jesus, so you misunderstand the very essence of capitalism.
But that's OK, Erick. You're forgiven. I and others on the secular left are, as you pointed out, most tolerant of your ilk. And though we have told you again and again that you'll be made to understand, we never really meant it, because we know you're incapable of it.
Have a nice day.
Erickson is...uh, "special."
In related - I'm pretty much an atheist - extremely skeptical agnostic might be most accurate - but if there is a God, and a heaven, I'll have a hearty laugh when it turns out that all these right-wing nutjobs like Erickson who have perverted and tried to redefine Christianity to suit their cruel, intolerant purposes have quite a surprise in store for them when they get to the holy gates.

Once again, the right cries over all the wrong things. Not all of us are offended that an old white bible thumping redneck man from the deep south said ignorant things about people he's most likely never associated with in life. His first amendment rights aren't being violated, as they do not extend to the business practices of a private for profit television network. As Lawrence O'Donnell said last night in response to Bobby Jindal's remarks, networks have NEVER believed in the first amendment. I doubt that the poor man realizes that being a reality tv star doesn't mean you get to act like who you really are. It's bad for the network's business. Personally, I like that people like this guy and Erick Erickson say the things they say. It makes it so much easier to know who to avoid in life.
