Politico has "5 questions for the White House on Bowe Bergdahl," among which is, "What did Congress know and when did it know it?"
And you know what? I don't care. I don't give a damn what this Congress knew, or when it knew it. Since the beginning of 2011, this essentially across-the-board Republican-controlled Congress has been AWOL on all matters of actual national importance, showing up for work only when it smells political opportunity. This Congress has unremittingly betrayed the electorate and converted America into a pig sty of a democratic laughingstock. This Congress has been criminally negligent to the point of treason.
In short, this Congress sucks--and about its constitutional rights, I just don't give a damn anymore. It abrogated its rights long ago. When did it last give a damn about the citizenry? About its general welfare? About unemployment? About healthcare? About fair taxation? About keeping lethal weaponry from lunatics? About navigable roads and safe bridges? About freeing an entire underclass of workers from the shadows?
When did this Congress care about anything but jockeying for power and undermining Obama's? Yet now I'm expected to care about Congress and its jealously guarded rights of oversight? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. It works both ways--and not once has this Congress lived up to its end of the bargain.
In seeking to destroy President Obama's legitimacy, this Congress only destroyed its own.
