Yesterday, Pat Robertson whimpered on "The 700 Club" that "I wish Reagan would rise from the dead and come back."
If he did, the man who as president raised taxes 11 times, swelled the size of government and its debt, refused to engage the abortion wars, granted amnesty to three million "illegal aliens," armed Iran and negotiated with our chief enemy, the Soviet Union, would find Robertson's GOP a most inhospitable party.
Republicans would spit him out and send him back to the grave. And Reagan, I should think, would gladly go, wondering all the while: What in God's name happened when I was gone?
Does Robertson imagine a resurrected Reagan as a zombie he shouldn't trust around his brain or a Left Behind-type, homicidal god shooting thunderbolts from His fingers to blow up infidels, AKA liberals. Probably the latter, but you never know.

Reagan contributed to the republican party becoming what it is today. Railing against government, (while running for the the top government job) and "welfare queens" and how all of our problems were the fault of dirty liberals. From what I can tell the rhetoric hasn't changed much in thirty years, maybe only getting much more poisonous in the Obama era. So maybe Pat Robertson is right, if such a thing were possible, bring back Nixon and Goldwater too for that matter. Let them reap what they helped to sow.
