In the GOP's witches' brew of delusions, there's always another, even higher content level of fantasy:
The Fair Tax, which conforms strictly to rightist Orwellian naming standards, is as big a hoax as the Flat Tax, which it's a variation on. Sales taxes are always regressive, and the Fair Tax would simply substitute a national sales tax for the Income Tax. We already know who spends a higher percentage of their income; the people Huckleberry impresses with public piety and heavily buttering grits at "eating places."

It is certainly possible but only if used in conjunction with a huge stimulus package. Like maybe starting a non-nuclear World War III. Not sure about how you'd deal with the giant deficits that would result though.
