What is a Friday without some Krauthammerian wisdom, which falleth gently like the torrential rain.
Quoth Charles: "We [said President Obama] have mobilized 65 countries to go after ISIL." Scoffeth Wisdom: "Yes, and what would we do without Luxembourg?"
This from the man whose pet Iraq-war coalition of the bribed willing included the awesome powers of Portugal, Eritrea and Albania. What would we have done without them? The same as we did with them: We bore the brunt of the war. Yet this was no scoffing matter in 2003. Nay, it was Presidential Leadership.
Doth scribe Krauthammer apply cyberink to screen to-day while wearing his jester's cap? Or imagineth Charles some profundity? Either way, his latest is a characteristic comedy of errors, in which he confuseth not Antipholus of Ephesus for Antipholus of Syracuse, though he should.
Pardon this digression but I have been watching in a kind of fascinated horror as the odious Senator Cruz generates rather impressive polling results by playing the nativist and frankly anti-Muslim card. No Syrians refugees he asserts, or Iraqi refugees can be admitted into the US without a vetting process that is impossible to achieve. There are no databases that can be searched to verify the background of these desperate people.
Let us step back in time and imagine how this standard would have applied to Cuban refugees fleeing Castro. Did not the possibility exist that within those refugees Cuban agents were planted? And how were these people to be vetted? Were they going to ask the Castro regime for the relevant information? Under Ted's rules, and his fellow Republicans, none should have been admitted. That includes Ted's father, who I should add, snuck back into the US through perfidious Canada. And he was not even then a Christian. Perhaps he adopted that cover. Perhaps he was a mole.
If he was he would behave no differently than he has. Indeed he might have recruited his own offspring into the plot. And how might they behave? Why they would inject themselves into government institutions where they would use their power to disrupt and deceive. With the ultimate goal of shutting down the government of the United States.

Anybody want to join me in pointing out the previous comment to a wider audience under the Twitter tag: #tedcruzamole?.

It's not really necessary to go beyond the title 'Obama's phony war' to see Krauthammer has given up his pretensions of pretentious intellectualism and gone full Fox. He's now the thinking person's asshole.

This is excellent. Alas, I'm not in the Twittersphere, so I can't help you with disseminating the comment that way.
